I Love Storyboards | Cananadaigua Senior Portraits

I love working on Storyboards and Collages for clients, and I’m thrilled with the way these two for Kelsey turned out.  While I adore the way one beautiful portrait printed large and framed beautifully looks, I think that there are times when a series of closely related images really come together beautifully to tell a story.

Kelsey comes from a family of amazing lacrosse players and is committed to attend and play for Boston University.  Congrats Kelsey!

Keep in mind too, that all my Signature Session collections include a large print.  One option is to upgrade to a 10×20 storyboard with 3 images for an additional $50.

Class of 2011 Early Booking Specials | Canandaigua Senior Portraits

And we’re off!  The books are open, email is filling up, and the phone is ringing, and I am thrilled to jump in to photographing the Class of 2011.  And here we have a couple of fun specials to kick off the season:

June Signature Session Special

$50 off the session fee, plus a complimentary set of 3×3 mini accordion albums — three in total to keep and share — with an on-time order.  That’s a $175 value for booking a June session.  I know it’s in the middle of all the craziness of SATs, proms, finals, and the like, but it’s a beautiful time of the year, and I promise it will be lots of fun — the perfect stress buster!

I’ve reserved 10 Signature Sessions for June booking, available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Minimum purchase requirements apply. These little accordions are totally fun, available in lots of colors and styles.  Check out design options here: http://laurabrophyphotography.com/mini/.  I just love making and sharing these little books, and look forward to creating them for June clients!

Memorial Day Sale

Call this week Monday-Thursday 6-9pm or Memorial Day Weekend (Friday-Monday) 10am-4pm to book your July or August session, and you will receive a complimentary 10×20 Storyboard with a booked Signature Session or a 5×10 storyboard with an Express Session.  The nonrefundable session fee is due upon booking to qualify for the storyboard, and the storyboard does not count against the minimum.

Storyboards include three images and text, and they are printed on photographic paper, mounted on styrene and luster coated for protection.

P.S. If you’ve called or emailed and haven’t heard from me yet, I’ll be in touch today!

These Girls Earned Their Big Heads

A warm and enthusiastic congratulations goes to the Mercy girls on winning the Section V Class AA Basketball Championship on Thursday night.  What a great game!

I got a huge kick out of the creativity of the Mercy fans.  I often talk about the many uses of purchasing digital files with senior portraits, but I never imagined anything quite like this.

The Democrat and Chronicle also ran a photo of the big heads and fabulous Mercy fans (#8 in the gallery): Mercy vs Athena Photo Gallery.

Here’s the original of Sarah (from the blond era):

And a few more from the game:

Flashback Friday | Finger Lakes Photographer

So do I count this as Week 7 or 8?  I missed last Friday while at the state swimming championship, and no one called me on it!  I’ll include two images today to get us back on track.

The first is a flashback all the way to my portfolio-building days, grabbing kiddos here and there.  This was one of the first experiments in my studio with natural light, and it reminds me to swing back open the curtains and use that gentle northern light more.  And the second image is of one of my Class of 2010 seniors.  I was delighted when she ordered this one BIG.

So, here is the deal with Flasback Fridays…. On Fridays in 2010, I am posting an image or two from a past session.  They could be as recent as the week before or from 2006, my first year in business.  No names will be provided, but if you spot yourself or your kiddo in the Friday Flashback, drop me a quick email to claim a complementary 8×10 of the image and a gift certificate for $50 toward a future session for yourself or to pass along to family or friends.  Be sure to check back every week, as you must be in touch before the next Friday to qualify for the photo and certificate (that email needs to reach me by midnight on Thursday).  You can check the blog or, to get a reminder each week, become a Facebook Fan of Laura Brophy Photography, which has a feed from the blog.

And what if I don’t post on a Friday?  The first person to email me with a friendly reminder on Saturday receives a $50 gift certificate toward a session for their immediate family’s use.  (Sorry, this one can’t be passed along.)  You are only eligible to receive this award once in 2010.

A few details to keep in mind: Only one certificate may be redeemed per session.  The certificate must be used within 1 year from the Flashback Friday in which the image appeared and may be applied towards a wedding, family or senior session.  There will be few “black out” special mini session dates for which you may not apply the Flashback Friday certificate. Those will be noted when posted.  Certificates may not be sold and have no cash value.Flashback Friday
