September Senior Express Sessions

lauryn-150

There are just a few full Signature Sessions available for September, but I am now also scheduling Senior Express Sessions for Saturday, September 12, and Saturday, September 19.  Senior Express Sessions are perfect for the reluctant senior or the senior on a budget who wants a simple solution for his or her portraits.  Area schools have different deadlines for senior portraits, but they generally start being due in late September, and the deadlines run into October.  Now is the time to get this scheduled.

The Senior Express Sessions are 40-minute sessions, combining studio and garden shots, weather permitting.  The aim is to get a photo for the yearbook, and a nice selection of other portraits to mark your senior year.  The session results in 15-20 proofs for review in an online gallery.

Senior Express Sessions are $225 (plus tax), payable on booking.  This fee includes the session itself, as well as the Senior Express Session Collection, which includes:

1 – 8×10

5 – 5×7s

16 wallets (sets of 8, select 2 images)

Yearbook Photo (submitted to school)

Additional images and products are available for a 10% discount off regular prices.

No substitutions are permitted with the collection. No more than two outfits are permitted for the Express Senior Session.  No off-site location shoots, props, or sports shots can be accommodated as part of this session.  It will focus on classic portraits, of course with a unique Laura Brophy Photography flair.  For seniors wanting more locations, more outfits, and/or to incorporate their passions into the shoot, please be in touch to discuss remaining availability for a full Signature Session, which allows for lots of customization and time to make your portraits truly unique.

The online gallery is available within 3-7 days of the session, and is available for 3 days.  Orders must be placed by the end of the third day to allow adequate time for processing and submission of yearbook photos.

Contact me at immediately if you want to secure one of these limited appointments.  585-455-5335 or email info@laurabrophyphotography.com.

Enjoy!!!!

And if you want to see some of the recent senior work, I’ve been pretty good about posting that on the Laura Brophy Photography Page on Facebook.

Rain, Rain Go Away

abby-172Already, we’re into some funky weather just as senior sessions get underway.  And inevitably, it causes seniors stress as their session approaches with clouds and rain showing prominently in the weather forecast.

So, here’s how we approach this.  Whenever possible, we will proceed with the session.  Overcast skies can make for amazing photos, and the light before and after rain can be almost magical.  I hate to shy away from this light just because it “might” rain.  You’ll love this light too, and find it wonderfully flattering.

On those rare occasions when the forecast calls for heavy rain and/or it seems likely that we will encounter a storm or thunder and lightening, we’ll simply reschedule, though we won’t make the call until the night before for a morning session or the day of for an evening session.

If the forecast calls for a 40-70% chance of rain, we’ll watch the weather maps and try to time the session and locations to work with the weather.  The vast majority of the time the rain stays away, or if we get a few sprinkles, we can work with it.  I have identified lots of locations and tricks for capturing great, natural outdoors photos in a light rain, by taking advantage of overhangs, pavilions, stables, umbrellas, etc.  And while we’re at it, we get beautiful light.

There are two situations that are good for me to know about in advance that may affect our decisions and how early we need to decide about whether to proceed — if you are getting your hair and makeup done professionally and have an appointment before the shoot, or if you have hair that will misbehave in damp weather.

Also, on the rare days when the temperature soars and the air is super humid, I may suggest we reschedule so that you can feel fresh and enjoy the session.  It’s no fun to be sweating bullets when you are trying to look your very best.

Finally, if we have to reschedule, or suspend a session mid-way, we’ll reschedule as soon as possible at a mutually convenient time.  I always leave room on my calendar for this, and I can typically get you back on the schedule within a few days.
