Facebook Love

facebook1After some initial kicking and screaming and much to the dismay of my children, I’m starting to get Facebook and am rather enjoying connecting with friends, family, my colleagues, and my clients too!  Check out the new Laura Brophy Photography Page on Facebook.  I’ve also added a link on the Menu bar above.

I’ve got a feed set up on the blog, so posts here will show up there, but keep coming back here to see the photos big and beautiful.  I’m always in need of blog love.

I welcome fans and friends and invite my seniors to tag themselves in photos and to spread the word.  I’m tracking Class of 2010 referrals. My top referrer, as cited by clients when they book, will win an ipod Touch. You can spread the word the old fashioned way by showing off your great senior portraits, or show me some Facebook love.  I know. Shameless.

Now and Then {1981}

laura-blog1

After a much needed January off, I’ve been busy gearing up for the Class of 2010 and another great year of photographing high school seniors, kiddos and families. In working on my senior site, I got to thinking about my own senior portrait experience. It was 1981 and senior portraits weren’t as big back then as they are now, but I knew I wanted to work with a great photographer, Lizbeth Guerrina, in Poughkeepsie, NY. I contacted her recently to ask her about using this photo on my site. (Yes, after all these years, the copyright is still in place. Permission is needed to scan and use an image taken by a photographer, even if it is a picture of you!) She agreed, and so here you have it, now and then. Twenty-seven years later… I am still pretending that I do not wear glasses. And I still LOVE my senior portraits…they both capture a moment in time and are beautifully timeless. Thank you Lizbeth!
