Flashback Friday | Finger Lakes Photographer

chris-129

Almost forgot, but here we go with Week 3 of Flashback Friday.  On Fridays in 2010, I am posting an image or two from a past session.  Fun for you, and fun for me.  They could be as recent as the week before or from 2006, my first year in business.  No names will be provided, but if you spot yourself or your kiddo in the Friday Flashback, drop me a quick email to claim a complementary 8×10 of the image and a gift certificate for $50 toward a future session for yourself or to pass along to family or friends.  Be sure to check back every week, as you must be in touch before the next Friday to qualify for the photo and certificate (that email needs to reach me by midnight on Thursday).  You can check the blog or, to get a reminder each week, become a Facebook Fan of Laura Brophy Photography, which has a feed from the blog.

And what if I don’t post on a Friday?  The first person to email me with a friendly reminder on Saturday receives a $50 gift certificate toward a session for their immediate family’s use.  (Sorry, this one can’t be passed along.)  You are only eligible to receive this award once in 2010.

A few details to keep in mind: Only one certificate may be redeemed per session.  The certificate must be used within 1 year from the Flashback Friday in which the image appeared and may be applied towards a wedding, family or senior session.  There will be few “black out” special mini session dates for which you may not apply the Flashback Friday certificate. Those will be noted when posted.  Certificates may not be sold and have no cash value.

I continue to take more shots just for me, with a real focus on capturing the everyday world of my family and community.  I will put these all together in some sort of gallery, really I will.  But here’s a quick one from early Saturday morning, our one morning with beautiful clear skies.  This is the view from my living room window of the beautiful, historic Ontario County Court House.  (Taken with the Canon G10)

In your heart

heart-revised-cover

It’s been a bit over a year now since my dad died at the age of 68 after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma.  At his service, my sister Tara shared a poem that she had written for the grandchildren.  The service was amazing – a perfect send-off and celebration – but it was Tara’s poem that left us all in tears.  Good tears.  But tears nonetheless.

For some time, Tara and I had gone back and forth about how to make the poem into a book – for the kids and for ourselves.  And finally, for Christmas, we did it, using dad’s  beautiful photos and lots of ours too.  We invite you into this special book — In Your Heart, by Tara Sweeney Capoor.

The cover photo was taken by my father, William J. Sweeney, at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine, in 2007.
