A Quiet Afternoon at Home | Rochester NY Family Photographer

OK, so maybe not so quiet.  But oh so fun!

As my winter hiatus winds down, I had the great pleasure of photographing this lovely, energetic young family, just a typical Sunday afternoon at home.  I love sessions where we just play and hang together, read books, talk pirate, capturing sweet expressions and relationships, eating grapes, and having lots of fun along the way.  Meet Amy and Jimmy and their two little boys.

New Product – Eco Proof Books | Rochester Senior Portrait Photographer

My photography seems to attract wonderful, natural seniors who love the earth and nature, and want their senior portraits to be an expression of that.  Organic Senior Portraits, if you will.  Not confined by the walls of a studio or sets created just for portraits, we venture out into the community, taking advantage of the beautiful lakes, fields, and built environment that makes the Finger Lakes region so special.

I have always been interested in keeping the business green, but the photography industry has been slow to adapt and offer green products.  I am delighted to say that the tide is turning, and I’ve been busy researching, ordering and evaluating samples. In addition to switching as much of my marketing and packaging materials to green options, I will be offering some really great eco-friendly products directly to my clients.

The Eco Proof Book is a wonderful little 5×5 book, light and crisp, a perfect keepsake from your session.  It features 40 to 50 press-printed images, with a cover page with your name, printed on 100% post-consumer-waste paper, which has been manufactured suing 100% wind power.  You’ll have your choice of silk or natural cotton cover, for a beautiful earth-friendly book.  The Eco Proof Book will be available for purchase as an add-on to collections.

Flashback Friday | Canandaigua Senior Portrait Photographer

Week 11 of Flashback Friday.  I am getting ready to open the books for the Class of 2011, and I’m having a blast looking through sessions from recent years to update my web site.  The calendar will open on April 3rd for Class of 2011 sessions, with some really great early booking specials.  So stay tuned…

In the meanwhile, here’s my Flashback Friday image for the week — the beautiful and talented Emily, from the Class of 2009.  Love this shot, taken in her back yard, just before we were hit with a downpour.

So, here is the deal with Flasback Fridays…. On Fridays in 2010, I am posting an image or two from a past session.  They could be as recent as the week before or from 2006, my first year in business.  No names will be provided, but if you spot yourself or your kiddo in the Friday Flashback, drop me a quick email to claim a complementary 8×10 of the image and a gift certificate for $50 toward a future session for yourself or to pass along to family or friends.  Be sure to check back every week, as you must be in touch before the next Friday to qualify for the photo and certificate (that email needs to reach me by midnight on Thursday).  You can check the blog or, to get a reminder each week, become a Facebook Fan of Laura Brophy Photography, which has a feed from the blog.

And what if I don’t post on a Friday?  The first person to email me with a friendly reminder on Saturday receives a $50 gift certificate toward a session for their immediate family’s use.  (Sorry, this one can’t be passed along.)  You are only eligible to receive this award once in 2010.

A few details to keep in mind: Only one certificate may be redeemed per session.  The certificate must be used within 1 year from the Flashback Friday in which the image appeared and may be applied towards a wedding, family or senior session.  There will be few “black out” special mini session dates for which you may not apply the Flashback Friday certificate. Those will be noted when posted.  Certificates may not be sold and have no cash value.
