My Garden | Finger Lakes photography

In addition to the many beautiful flowers that grace my yard, I am expanding my efforts to grow some of our own food this year, despite the limitations of my small yard with no backyard.  I’ve repurposed containers previously dedicated to flowers and baskets and a sandbox previously devoted to other uses to grow an assortment of lettuces, radishes, carrots, onions, herbs, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, peas, beans, pumpkins and the like.  I plan to chronicle it in photos, sharing here on occasion.

Above is my beloved wisteria, which grows around the ironwork of the front terrace.  And below, a cucumber vine.

Mercy High Ball | Rochester Photographer

Last night was the Mercy Senior Ball.  I am quite sure that Will would have preferred I stay away from the photo fest, but Sarah was most welcoming, as always.  They looked beautiful, and the location was spectacular… a lovely house overlooking Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario.

For the big group shot, they were positioned in front of the sun and the lake.  Totally difficult lighting, made all the funnier by the fact that the line of 24 kids totally obscured the lake anyway.   Maybe with a ladder, we could have captured the whole scene.

But it was a beautiful night, and the kids were so fun and easy-going.

Flashback Friday | Rochester Senior Portraits

Here’s my image for today’s Flashback Friday, inspired by this evening’s shoot with the beautiful Sarah and her friends in advance of the Mercy Senior Ball.  This was such a great session from early last year, and Sarah was an awesome sport, getting in the cold May water at Corbett’s Glen.

So, you know the drill on Flashback Friday.  Look back a Friday or two if you need details.

I have much to share in the coming days.  This image reminds me that I never shared Sarah’s session here.  We made an awesome art book, and I’ll post that soon.  Also coming up… the beautiful Fridley family session at the Cornell Plantations … the first Class of 2011 session – the amazing Ikey … Mercy Ball photos…and my blooming spring garden.

I’ll be back soon with lots of fun images.

Baby Meredith | Canandaigua Newborn Photographer

What a sweet little thing this wee one was — the most amazing red hair, gentle face, and sweet little toes and ears.  The best part of photographing newborns is the quite moments in between everything when I just get to take it all in.  What a privilege to be with parents in these first precious days.  I generally like B&W photos with newborns, but I simply couldn’t resist some color with little Meredith.
