ORDERING BASICS
Your gallery will be available for 7 days, expiring at midnight on the last day. I encourage you to work on the order prior to that last night, so you have ample time to contact me should you have any questions. A $50 reposting fee applies once the gallery expires. The online gallery provides you with the opportunity to view the photos at your leisure, and to use the “favorites” feature and “shopping cart” to build and change your order.
Pricing in place at the time that the session is booked is honored for 30 days after availability of the gallery. All photos ordered within 30 days will be archived and available for 1 year. All other photos will be deleted.
Payment is due in full when you place your order. Orders will be available for you within 2 to 4 weeks. If you need your order for a specific purpose (holiday or gift), please let me know. Payment may be made via credit card (American Express, Discover, Visa or MasterCard), paypal or by personal check.
If you have selected online ordering but you subsequently decide that you would prefer to place your order in an ordering appointment so that you can see images larger and/or consult with me, there is a $50 appointment fee. This fee is waived with a minimum order of $750.
ONLINE ORDERING
The system used for online photo ordering (called “photocart”) is a very robust shopping cart that allows us to construct complex orders, including albums and collections, and to use a variety of customer-friendly features that help you to narrow your choices and create an order that meets your unique needs.
You will receive an Access Code to access your gallery. Anyone with this Access Code will be able to view your images. In addition, I encourage you to immediately create an Account. This will allow you to track and save your work and take full advantage of the many user features in photocart.
There are 5 basic kinds of pages in photocart, each leading to the next:
- Splash Intro Slideshow – When you first access your gallery, you get a mini slideshow teaser.
- Thumbnails – The splash slideshow takes you to the gallery, where you will see thumbnails of all the photos. From there, you can head to the slideshow, by clicking the link above the thumbnail images, or you can click on an image to go to the ordering page for that image.
- Complete Slideshow - I strongly encourage you to access the complete slideshow of all your images, set to music, before digging into the individual images. The slideshow will give you a beautiful, uncluttered view of the photos and help you see the “big picture” before you get lost in a sea of individual photos.
- Image Ordering Page – This is where the action is. There are a number of features on this page designed to help you narrow your choices, including ENLARGE, COMPARE, and FAVORITES. Get a preview of the page by clicking on the image above. (Note: you must create an account and be logged in to select and view FAVORITES.) When ordering prints, you must select the size, and then you have the option to change the image to B&W, or to make notes on the image. (Please note that when you make a note on the image, it applies to ALL photographs ordered of that image. If, for example, you want the standard crop on the 8×10 but you want a tighter crop for the wallets, you need to be that specific to ensure that your order is delivered as desired.
- Albums and Collections Page – On the righthand column of the Image Ordering Page, you will find a link to the Albums and Collections Page, where you will have the opportunity to review descriptions of your various options and select
Please note that monitor quality and calibration varies significantly. Your photographs will be printed from high-resolution files that will print beautiful color, tones, and clarity.
For most clients, ordering is less of a science than an art, mixing fulfilling needs with getting the many photos you fall in love with. When planning your order, I suggest that you compile two lists: (1) your favorite images (using the FAVORITES feature in photocart); and (2) a needs list (all the people and places for whom or which you need to order images). Your order will likely lie somewhere at the cross-section of these two lists. And the Digital Collection, which includes all the images, is the perfect choice for clients who simply need all the photos!
Laura Brophy Photography offers a range of gift print and wall portrait sizes to meet your needs. I encourage clients to think BIG when ordering photos to decorate their home for maximum impact and value. All wall portraits (11×14 and larger) are sprayed with a beautiful luster coating for quality presentation and durability. With wall portraits, clients have an option to have photos mounted on styrene at no additional charge. The mounting is best suited for photos that will be framed unmatted, as it will provide durability. If you plan to mat the photo, it will be best to have it printed without styrene.
For a stunning presentation of a photo as art, consider a gallery-wrapped canvas. The photo is printed on canvas with archival inks, protected with waterproof, UV coating, and stretched over a 1.5 inchframe. The back is beautifully finished and the canvas comes ready to hang. Canvases are stunning the larger you go. Ask to see samples if you haven’t already!

We have simplified the pricing structure for the Class of 2010, offering one Classic Collection for $500, which includes an 11×14, 10 gift prints, and 72 wallets, as well as some low-resolution files for electronic use. You may add-on a variety of products to the Collection to customize your order. Additional prints qualify for 20% off. A number of wonderful products, including albums and storyboards, are only available with the purchase of a Collection or minimum print purchase of $500. Please do not add these items to your cart if you have not purchased a collection or the equivalent.
You may also purchase a Digital Collection, which includes all the files as digital negatives. The Digital Collection includes a set of 5×7s of all images, and additional prints may be purchased for 40% off (excludes storyboards). In addition to providing the files on a disk, we’ll upload your files to a quality printer (www.mpix.com) for your ordering convenience.
ALBUMS
Many clients decide upon viewing their gallery that they want a large selection or all of photos from their session. Beautiful leather-bound session albums featuring 5×7 photos are available for purchase with a Collection or a minimum print purchase of $500. In addition, spiral-bound proof books including all the images from your session are available for purchase, again with a minimum purchase.

If the images lend themselves to the creation of a storyboard or collage of several images that go well together, it has been created and placed in your gallery. I welcome the opportunity to customize the collage to include your favorite images.
If you like the storyboard presented in your gallery, simply order it. If you want minor changes (swapping a photo or changing the caption, for example), then order the storyboard, but note your changes in the image NOTES field.
Photocart also allows you to create your own storyboard in the Albums & Collections area by selecting 2-4 photos and providing a caption in the notes section. In designing a storyboard, I recommend that images be selected from the same series of photos during the shoot, all with similar clothing and lighting. When mixing images from different sections of the session, selecting the images as B&Ws can bring unity to the collage.
Storyboards and collages are mounted on styrene and sprayed with a protective luster coating. Once a 10×20 storyboard or 20×20 collage has been ordered, additional mini 5×10 storyboards and 10×10 collages are available for order. Frames for 10×20 storyboards are widely available in local department and craft stores, and the mini 5×10s look fabulous displayed on a small easel.
RETOUCHING
All photos have been professionally retouched to remove minor blemishes. In general, birthmarks, freckles, and scars are left unaltered. If you desire additional retouching on an image, please make a note to that effect on the image in your cart. Extensive retouching may incur additional charges.
Your images have been presented with a variety of cropping looks, everything from tight head crops (yes, I cut the top of her head off on purpose) to large landscapes that place the subject in their environment. If you would like to see a tighter crop on an image, please make a note of it with your order.
Note that different size prints have different ratios and may require an alternative crop. Most proofs are shown at a 5×7 crop. I will make a decision on the crop for enlargements based on technical and artistic factors. If you have a specific request regarding the crop on a larger print, please make a not of it when you place your order.
BLACK & WHITE PHOTOS
All photos presented can be converted to black & white. A small sample of B&W images have been presented in your gallery. If it is presented as a B&W and you order it, it will be delivered as B&W. Any of the images presented in color can be ordered as B&W by selecting the B&W “color option” when you place it in your photo cart. Please note that if an image has been presented ONLY in B&W, the image did not lend itself to color presentation and is not available as such.
Seniors may also chose one photo for the yearbook photo. For Canandaigua Academy and Bloomfield students, the file will be submitted directly to the school for you. For all other schools, the student must submit the guidelines to me prior to the session, and the student will be responsible for submitting the file to the yearbook.
Please keep your school’s guidelines in mind when selecting a photo. Most schools require a standard size, which specifies that the head take up approximately half the vertical length. Please make sure you have selected an image that has room around the face to accomplish this and that meets any additional criteria established by your school for posing (hats, hands, props, etc.).
All orders (unless oversized) are shipped via USPS. Shipping and handling charges are applied to all orders as follows:
$1-199.99 —- $5
$200-549.99 —– $8.50
$550 and up ——$12
Federal law protects the images and rights of photographers. Laura Brophy Photography retains the copyright and ownership of all images and artwork created from the session. Photographs may not be scanned, copied or reproduced in any manner, including the copying of photos from the online gallery or Web site.
Laura Brophy Photography will try to accommodate all reasonable requests regarding photo reproduction for other purposes. Please let me know your needs so that I may help you. Fees may apply.
